TERRACOTTA AND CELADON POTTERY

TERRACOTTA is a hard fired ceramic clay used in pottery. The term is also used to refer to items made out of this material. The literal word is Italian for "baked earth".Terracotta has been used throughout history for pottery and sculptures. In ancient times, the first clay sculptures were dried in the sun after being formed. Later, they were placed in the ashes of open hearths to harden, and finally kilns were used, similar to those used for pottery today. Terracotta has a brownish-orange color.

CELADON is considered to be an exquisite type of pottery, having a pale green glaze. Originally produced in China more than 1,200 years ago, it is still being hand crafted today!
